The MEd is a course-based program with no thesis option. Students complete five required core courses and three elective courses. The last course involves a capstone seminar that integrates the learning experiences of the participants with the program goals.

• A minimum "B" standing in your final two years of study.
• A Bachelor of Education degree is not required for admittance, although applicants with a completed Bachelor of Education degree should have a minimum B standing.
• Applicants with three-year degrees will be considered on a case-by-case basis via alternate admission procedures.
• Applications are reviewed by the graduate program committee, which considers all prior university grades, a statement of scholarly interests, and letters of reference.
• Successful experience as an educator in a professional setting may be considered in the selection process.

On a limited basis, the Faculty of Education offers one or two spaces in the Interdisciplinary program for Waterloo campus students wishing to complete the program on a full-time basis.

Students would take three courses in the first term, three courses in the second term and two courses in the final term. This option is not recommended for students in full-time employment.

After you have submitted your OUAC application, paid the non-refundable application fee, and Laurier has received your application, you'll receive an email from gradadmissions@wlu.ca advising you to upload the additional required documentation to Laurier’s Online Registration and Information System (LORIS).

An application for admission to our Master of Education (MEd) program must include:

• The Application Summary, which is generated after you complete your OUAC application (note that you can log back in to OUAC to retrieve it).
• Transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work including incomplete degrees. 
• A completed statement of intent. Please note that applicants MUST use the form provided to complete their Statement of Intent, otherwise their application will NOT be reviewed.
• A resume of your academic and work experience. Include a history of your publication and scholarly paper activity and any other information you feel will interest the admissions committee.
• Completed reference forms. Two references are required: one academic and one professional, or two academic. A letter from an Additional Qualifications instructor is acceptable. If an academic letter cannot be provided, the applicant can submit two professional letters and will then be considered through the alternative admissions process. Note: Reference forms are electronically submitted to Laurier by the referee and do not need to be uploaded.

Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential to graduate studies at Laurier. Applicants whose language of instruction during their previous postsecondary education was not in English must submit evidence of proficiency in English. If applicable, results from accepted testing services must be uploaded to LORIS.
